Question 1

Is a vow renewal ceremony in Bangladesh permissible in Islam?

Accepted Answer

Yes, with important context. A symbolic celebration of your marriage through gratitude, Quranic recitation, dua, and family gathering is widely regarded by scholars as permissible and appropriate. A formal Tajdeed al-Nikah is also regarded as permissible across the major Sunni schools of Islamic jurisprudence when performed with the correct conditions, though scholars within the Hanafi tradition note that formal renewal is most appropriate when a genuine shari reason exists. For guidance specific to your circumstances, consulting your local imam or Mufti is always the right step before proceeding with a formal renewal.

Question 2

What is Tajdeed al-Nikah?

Accepted Answer

Tajdeed al-Nikah is the Islamic process of formally renewing a marriage contract. It requires a new mutual proposal and acceptance (ijab and qabul) between both spouses, at least two adult Muslim witnesses, and the agreement of a genuine, specified mahr. A wali (guardian) is generally not required between the same existing spouses, as Hanafi fiqh scholars have clarified. It does not invalidate the original nikah, which remains fully valid if conducted correctly. A government-registered Kazi is strongly recommended to officiate.

Question 3

Do you need a Kazi for a vow renewal ceremony in Bangladesh?

Accepted Answer

For a formal Tajdeed al-Nikah, a government-registered Kazi is strongly recommended, particularly if you wish to have updated official documentation. For a symbolic vow renewal celebration that does not involve a formal nikah renewal, no Kazi is required. A family elder, a community leader, or the couple themselves can lead or facilitate the ceremony.

Question 4

Will renewing my nikah affect my original kabinnama?

Accepted Answer

No. A symbolic vow renewal creates no new legal contract and does not affect your original kabinnama in any way. A Tajdeed al-Nikah renews the spiritual and contractual bond but does not retroactively alter your existing marriage documentation. If you have specific legal questions about your situation, consult a legal advisor alongside your religious scholar.

Question 5

How much does a vow renewal ceremony cost in Bangladesh?

Accepted Answer

The cost varies significantly based on scale, venue, guest count, decor vision, and services required. An intimate gathering for thirty guests has a very different profile from a formal silver jubilee celebration for one hundred and fifty. Look N Feel does not publish fixed pricing because every event is built around a specific vision and set of requirements. Question 7

What is the best anniversary milestone for a vow renewal in Bangladesh?

Accepted Answer

The tenth, twenty-fifth, fortieth, and fiftieth anniversaries are the most commonly celebrated. The silver jubilee, the twenty-fifth, carries particular cultural weight in Bangladeshi families and is frequently organised by children honouring their parents. There is no single correct milestone, however. Couples also choose vow renewals after overcoming major personal challenges regardless of the anniversary year, and that context makes the ceremony no less meaningful.

Question 8

Do you need witnesses for a vow renewal in Bangladesh?

Accepted Answer

For a formal Tajdeed al-Nikah, yes: two adult Muslim witnesses are required who meet the shari criteria. For a symbolic vow renewal celebration, no formal witnesses are required. The presence of gathered family and friends naturally serves that role in an emotional and communal sense.

Question 9

Can children participate in a vow renewal ceremony?

Accepted Answer

Absolutely. Children reading personal reflections about what their parents' marriage has meant to them, walking alongside the couple during the ceremony, or participating in a symbolic family ritual are all deeply powerful elements. Including children transforms the occasion from a couple's private milestone into a family's shared testimony. We help design these moments to feel natural and meaningful rather than rehearsed.

Question 10

Is a vow renewal the same as a second nikah?

Accepted Answer

Not necessarily. If the ceremony includes a formal Tajdeed al-Nikah, it follows the Islamic process of renewing the marriage contract without creating a new legal marriage, since the original nikah remains valid. If it is a purely symbolic celebration, no new contract is involved at all. These two forms are meaningfully different and should not be used interchangeably.

Question 11

Is a vow renewal the same as a Walima?

Accepted Answer

No. A Walima is a specific Islamic feast hosted following a new nikah. A vow renewal or anniversary ceremony is a separate celebration that takes place within an existing marriage, often years or decades later. They serve entirely different purposes and have no formal relationship in Islamic jurisprudence.

Question 12

Can a vow renewal ceremony be held at home in Bangladesh?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Many of the most meaningful anniversary ceremonies we plan take place in private homes, garden settings, and family properties. An intimate home ceremony for thirty to fifty guests can be extraordinarily moving and more personal than any hotel ballroom. Scale does not determine meaning. Intention does.

Question 13

Can a vow renewal be combined with a silver jubilee celebration?

Accepted Answer

Yes, and the two sit together naturally. A formal Tajdeed al-Nikah or symbolic recommitment can open the evening, followed immediately by a full jubilee celebration with family, speeches, and dinner. Many of the most memorable events we plan combine both elements, allowing the ceremony to carry spiritual weight while the celebration carries the joy of the milestone. We design the full arc from opening to closing.
