Wedding Budget Calculator for Bangladesh Weddings

Good wedding planning begins on paper, where priorities, possibilities and practical decisions find their place.

Planning a wedding budget in Bangladesh is not the same exercise as planning one almost anywhere else. Most budgeting advice online assumes a single event: one venue, one catering order, one photography package. A Bangladeshi wedding is rarely one event. It is usually three, the Gaye Holud, the wedding ceremony, and the reception, each with its own guest list, decor theme, catering style, and often its own venue. That structure is beautiful, but it makes budgeting genuinely harder. Families end up guessing how much of the total should go toward each event and each category, then adjusting on the fly as bookings come in, which is exactly how budgets quietly spiral.

We built this calculator to solve that specific problem. Enter your own numbers in Taka across venue, catering, decor and planning, photography and videography, entertainment, attire and styling, accommodation, invitations and stationery, transport, gifts, and miscellaneous, and it instantly shows your total cost, your average cost per guest, and how that compares to your overall budget. It will not tell you what vendors charge. It will organize the numbers you already have, or are still working out, in one place, so you can see immediately whether they add up.

A wedding budget calculator for Bangladesh weddings lets families enter their own costs in Taka across categories such as venue, catering, decor, photography and videography, entertainment, attire, accommodation, stationery, transport, and gifts, then instantly see the total cost, the average cost per guest, and the remaining balance against their overall budget. This creates one working document for planning multiple celebrations such as Gaye Holud, the wedding ceremony, and the reception.

Who This Calculator Is For

This tool was built with three types of planners in mind, because “the average Bangladeshi wedding” does not really exist as a single thing.

The first is the local Dhaka family, planning a wedding where the couple, the families, and most of the guests are already in the city. Budgeting here is often about coordinating multiple venues across multiple days without letting any one event quietly absorb the whole budget.

The second is the Non-Resident Bangladeshi client. If you are planning from London, Toronto, Dubai, or anywhere else while the wedding itself happens in Dhaka or your home district, you cannot visit five venues in a weekend. You need a shared reference point that both families can understand over a video call. Entering real Taka figures and sharing the resulting plan as an image gives you something concrete to send home, even from a distance.

The third is the family planning a domestic destination wedding, where the celebration is happening outside Dhaka, in a different division entirely. Sylhet, Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar, and Rajshahi weddings carry their own logistics on top of the usual categories: transport for guests and vendors, accommodation, and venue availability that behaves differently than it does in the capital. The calculator does not change those realities, but it gives you one place to track them alongside everything else.

Which Events You Can Budget With This Calculator

This calculator was built around the Gaye Holud, wedding, and reception because that’s the core of nearly every Bangladeshi wedding, but it works for the full sequence of events families plan around a wedding, and beyond it. Add or remove line items as needed for whichever of these you’re planning:

If you’re planning several of these around one wedding, we’d suggest one calculator plan per event rather than combining them into a single total, since guest counts and category weight shift from one event to the next. For a fuller look at how we approach each of these, see our event planning and management services.

How to Use This Calculator

  1. Enter the event name if you want it to appear on your saved plan, for example “Anik & Anika’s Wedding.”
  2. Choose how you want to set your Total Wedding Budget: enter your own ceiling amount, or let it calculate automatically as the sum of the categories below.
  3. Enter your estimated guest count.
  4. Go through each category, venue, catering, decor and planner, photography and videography, entertainment, attire, accommodation, stationery, transport, gifts, and miscellaneous, and enter your amount in Taka. Uncheck any category you don’t need, and it drops out of your totals.
  5. Watch Total Cost, average cost per guest, and your budget balance update as you go.
  6. Print your plan, download it as an image, or share it directly from your phone, whichever is easiest to bring into a family conversation or vendor meeting.

How This Helps You Plan

Most couples do not overspend because they are careless. They overspend because they never see the whole picture in one place until it’s too late to change course. Entering real numbers as you get them, a venue quote here, a caterer’s estimate there, means you see your running total and your balance immediately, instead of discovering the gap only after several vendors are already booked.

This matters even more because of the three-event structure. A single total budget somehow has to cover the Gaye Holud, the wedding, and the reception, and each event pulls differently on the same categories. Gaye Holud often leans heavy on decor and photography. The main wedding leans on venue and catering. The reception often leans on catering and attire again. Tracking everything against one total, rather than budgeting each event in isolation, is what keeps you from quietly spending the same money twice.

Seeing an average cost per guest also changes the guest list conversation. It is one thing to say “we want three hundred guests.” It is another to see what that number does to your total cost the moment you enter it, before a single deposit is paid. That number alone tends to make guest list conversations far more concrete.

Because you can toggle categories off, the tool also flexes to what your wedding actually includes. A family without a stationery budget, because invitations are being handled by a relative, simply unchecks it, and it disappears from the total rather than sitting there as a phantom cost.

What This Calculator Doesn’t Account For

This tool totals what you enter. It doesn’t know what things should cost, and it’s worth being direct about that limit.

Regional cost variation is the biggest one. What you’ll pay in Dhaka for a given category will not translate directly to Sylhet, Chattogram, or Cox’s Bazar. Vendor availability, transport distances, and local market rates all shift the moment you leave the capital, and a domestic destination wedding needs its own layer of planning on top of these categories.

Vendor negotiation is the second. The numbers you enter reflect whatever quotes or estimates you currently have. A strong planning partner can often change what a category actually costs through negotiation, timing, or package structure, something a totaling tool cannot do for you.

Timing matters too. A number entered today, before you’ve spoken to a venue, is a placeholder. Update it as real quotes come in, and let the balance move with it.

None of this makes the tool less useful. It means the total is only as accurate as what you’ve entered so far, and it gets more accurate every time you update it.

Closing

Budgeting for a Bangladeshi wedding will always involve some back-and-forth between what you want and what the numbers allow. This calculator exists to make that back-and-forth visible, in Taka, in one place, instead of scattered across notes and messages. If you would like help turning this plan into an actual event across your Gaye Holud, wedding, and reception, our team at Look N Feel – Event Solutions is happy to walk through it with you.

Frequently Asked Questions About the Wedding Budget Calculator Bangladesh

Track everything against one total rather than budgeting each event separately. Gaye Holud often leans on decor and photography, the wedding leans on venue and catering, and the reception leans on catering and attire.

It totals the Taka amounts you enter across eleven categories, then shows your total cost, your average cost per guest, and your remaining balance against your total wedding budget.

It totals whatever you enter, so it works anywhere in Bangladesh. What it can’t do is tell you local rates. Divisions outside Dhaka have different vendor markets, so your entered numbers should reflect local research.

Yes. Each category has a checkbox. Unchecking it removes that category from your total cost and every percentage, and disables the field, without deleting what you’d typed.

No. It only totals the numbers you enter yourself. It does not display, estimate, or quote vendor pricing, and nothing here represents a quote or invoice from Look N Feel.

No. Everything runs in your browser only. Nothing is transmitted to a server or saved once you leave the page. Printing, downloading as an image, or sharing are the only ways to keep a copy, and each one is something you choose to do.
